This innovative approach isn't just for performers or yogis - it's a practice that can benefit people from all walks of life. Whether you're a busy professional seeking stress relief and creativity, an educator looking for new ways to engage with your body and mind, a healthcare worker aiming to find balance and joy in your practice, or simply someone wanting to explore a playful and mindful approach to movement, Fool's Yoga offers a unique opportunity for growth, self-discovery, and holistic well-being.
A bit about my background: In April 2022, I completed a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher training program conducted through the Lab Yoga Studio. The Yoga Alliance is an organization that sets standards for yoga professionals and teacher training programs around the world. This particular program taps into each individual strengths, as well as coaching each person to find their full potential as a professional, guide, and yogi. The tools of yoga and mindfulness, along with the group camaraderie, lead to a sense of elevated community, which globally is needed across the board. In addition to working with my two main teachers, Wade Gotwals and Chris Gilmore, I worked with teachers that focused on advanced yoga poses, yogic philosophy, anatomy, meditation, diversity & inclusion, leadership, yin yoga, community building, and marketing.
In completing my yoga teacher training, it became my goal to combine my teachings of physical comedy and yoga into a cohesive whole, bringing together to sense of play, spirituality, and mindfulness that I believe are unifying principles between the two disciplines.
From this, my cultivated practice of The Fool’s Yoga was born! This practice combines the sacred and mindful practices of Physical Comedy with Yin Yoga, Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Kundalini Yoga, and Guided Meditation.
I am available and open to guiding you in Foolish workshops, The Fool’s Yoga workshops, and Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes.
Through the lens of the Fool, these classes will help you and your attendees with:
Being more emotionally in touch: By practicing and delving into basic emotions, we can gain a greater understanding of what emotions are challenging and why, and investigate them with curiosity.
Learning to present the most authentic self: It can be hard not to wear a mask, or present a certain version of ourselves when we are meeting new people and in new settings, especially in a retreat setting. Physical Comedy training can guide you in shedding the layers you use to hide your authentic self by encouraging you to reveal and revel in all facets of who you truly are!
Physicalizing the practice of mindfulness: Clown is a different approach to experiencing mindfulness; it works in practice and not in theory, as it allows you to embrace your emotions by embodying failure, embracing failure as a part of life, and therefore, embracing all possibilities.
Public speaking: Speaking in front of large or small crowds, whether they are your friends or colleagues, can be quite challenging for many people. Even seasoned actors experience bouts of stage fright. Through Clown, learn to love your audience and see them as a partner in your presentation, rather than a public that are apart from you.
