A monthly virtual watch party for clowns and physical theatre actors

In 2020, I started a weekly watch party for clowns so we could watch films that celebrated clowning and physical performance. I wanted to do something during the early lockdown that would bring joy to the community I love. Every week we would alternate between films I handpicked and films voted on by the viewers. We’d watch live performances, silent comedies, documentaries, cartoons, anything that showed clowning’s influence on film. Afterward, we’d get into lively discussions about performance choices, use of physicality, the art of humor, and much, much more.

Since moving to San Diego, I’ve partnered with LA’s Clown School to resurrect the watch party as Clown School Cinema! I’m passionate about the work the Clown School does, having undergone their teaching training certification program so I can pass on the art of clowning to others, so I’m incredibly excited to be remounting these watch nights with their support.
